BVTK is an add-on for Blender that allows using the VTK visualization library through a graphical interface, based on node trees, and move the VTK objects inside Blender, where they can be used to create an image or an animation, taking advantage of the powerful instruments of a 3D graphics software.

a powerful couple
As long as you know how to use both VTK and Blender, the only limit of their combination is your imagination. VTK is an advanced library born more than twenty years ago and it supports an ever increasing number of visualization algorithms and techniques. It’s cross-platform and runs on Linux, Windows, Mac and Unix platforms, and so Blender and BVTK. Blender is the free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline: modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.

Creating images with a strong visual impact is becoming increasingly complex, because of the continuous stimuli to which people are subjected every day while browsing the internet. BVTK was created in response to this need to provide researchers with the suitable instruments for effective communication. BVTK allows to produce high quality, vivid and original visualizations, to share data with a whole new look.
